“When I was a kid (12-15 yrs old) my mom and dad used to take me to see different bands in the St Louis area, and one in particular had this drummer, John DiMartino, who had the reputation of being one of the best, with a foot surpassed by none. I was always totally enthralled to see John play, and learned a lot while watching him play everything from funk to jazz to complex meter tunes with this awesome organ trio. I remember having one or two lessons with him, receiving independence and other material that would still be challenging for me even today. I also give him total credit for the development of my right food, and know that he has a lot to offer any student wanting to learn.”
